OS Templates

An OS template is a fully pre-configured operating system environment - an archive that contains the root directory of an operating system. A basic OS template includes the data needed for a minimal OS installation, but may also include applications and additional OS components.

There are two kinds of OS templates:
  1. 1. System templates available in the template library.

    The DevHost OS template library includes multiple flavors of Windows and Linux templates, such as:

  2. 2. Custom OS templates that you create by backing up an existing VM and converting that backup into a template.

    This allows you to pre-configure VMs with specific settings and applications, and use the same configuration over and over again.
